About Us

Who are we?

The Good Neighbour Scheme was launched officially in February 2011. Our aim is to provide a voluntary service that overcomes temporary problems for Didcot`s elderly, vulnerable or isolated residents.

We have a team of volunteers, all DBS checked, who can help with simple tasks like shopping, pet care, form filling, collecting prescriptions and simple household tasks that some people may find difficult. We can also arrange for a volunteer to drop in for a chat and a cup of tea if you are feeling isolated or lonely.

Our co-ordinator will visit the client`s home to make an initial assessment and then will allocate the most suitable volunteer for them. If we are unable to help, we will suggest a more appropriate solution to the problem.

The Good Neighbour scheme is provided free of charge, however voluntary donations are always welcome. We are supported by Oxfordshire County Council who also support similar schemes in other towns within Oxfordshire.
